For more than 50 years, the Presidential Scholarship Program has been one of the University of New Mexico's most enduring investments in New Mexico's future, a premier talent development and leadership pipeline that empowers exceptional students from New Mexico high schools to become the innovators, professionals, and civic leaders who strengthen our state.  Since 1976, more than 5,000 of the state's highest-achieving students have come to UNM as Presidential Scholars, pursuing degrees across every discipline before becoming physicians, engineers, researchers, educators, entrepreneurs, artists, and public servants who strengthen communities across New Mexico and beyond. Building on the success of the undergraduate scholarship, the Presidential Scholar Graduate Award extends support to students pursuing graduate and professional education at UNM. This innovative model recognizes that the pathway to leadership does not end with a bachelor's degree. The Presidential Scholarship Program embodies the vision of Accelerate New Mexico: sustained investment in exceptional people creates exponential returns for our communities, our economy, and our future.
